Yoga tends to come into our life when we truly need it. For some, it's casually acquired. For others, intuition takes over and one may find themselves in a yoga studio, facing a fear of not knowing what the heck their doing, and end up either loving it or absolutely hating it.
One way or another, you leave the studio with something intangible to take home. At minimum, that is a peace of mind.
What do you think of when Yoga comes to mind? For the purpose of this blog, let’s just say… “Fluidity”. I believe that in this mind-body practice, where the mind goes, the body will follow, which then will create inner stability from outer fluidity.

THE PATH THAT LED TO NOW
Fluidity is exactly what Augusta needed. All in the same year, she quit her corporate job, signed the lease for Namaste on Williams, and a few months later she & her husband found out they were having their first baby! She giggles as she states “it was not part of her plan”, but she had to “flow” with the punches of life.
Sami: WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE OTHERS TO KNOW ABOUT YOU?
Augusta Fishman: I am the creator of Namaste on Williams and I was born & raised in Fairbanks Alaska. I completed my 200 hour teacher training with Mukti Yoga School in Los Angeles in 2012, began teaching right away, and finished my 500 hour teacher training in 2016.
I have always been active in sports, soccer, basketball, snowboarding and experienced yoga for the first time in 2001, but it was not love at first down dog, and I was not a fan. I guess the timing wasn’t right... Yoga came back into my life years later at a time when I needed it the most.
I was newly sober (yes, yoga has been a huge part of my recovery) and felt that I needed to make positive changes in my life. Yoga along with recovery taught me how to like myself again and how to appreciate what I was capable of. It helped me build confidence, and for those reasons I became fully immersed in the practice.
It became a place of community where some of my best friendships began in the yoga studio - including my husband (if it wasn’t for yoga we probably wouldn't have met)!
Sami: HOW WAS NAMASTE ON WILLIAMS BORN?
Augusta: I had always dreamt of opening a yoga studio, but would end up talking myself out of it by asking myself fear based questions such as:
“Who am I to open a studio”, or “I am not some well known yoga instructor - nobody knows who I am”, “I am scared - what if I fail”, and “I don’t know what I am doing” kind of questions.
My corporate job was not serving me and was a constant source of stress and anxiety. For a few years I fought with my own fears until one day I decided that was enough. Just do it. The worst that can happen is it doesn’t work out - but at least I gave it a try.
A few months later I quit my corporate job and embraced the fear!
Sami: HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE ENERGY BEHIND NAMASTE ON WILLIAMS?
Augusta: I set out to create a boutique yoga studio that offered challenging yet nurturing vinyasa flow classes with quality instruction in a well designed, clean, and beautiful space.

One of our customers experience goals is to get to know our students on a personal level and to deliver a quality yoga class. We strive to make our students feel at home and genuinely want to support their yoga journey.

Sami: IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU’D LIKE TO SHARE WITH US?
Augusta: Most of the things in my life that bring me the greatest amount of joy and contentment are connected to the yoga practice. This is what I hope to share with our students - it’s not just about the asana or mastering that crazy arm balance or inversion. Yoga teaches us to truly listen to ourselves. It can peel away all the layers that we’ve been hiding under allowing us to feel athletic and free in our own skin.
